Automation of on-line activities Balancing the systemload Flexibility System control Security Integration in existing processes Examples of use Conclusion Software requirements Manuals
masc-ato, Automated Transaction Operator, is a software product to control and handle processing of interactive dialogues of TP-monitor transactions (CICS, IMS, ICCF, TSO) by simulating a terminal user.
masc-ato offers a complete set of commands to control terminal input and output out of REXX.
The TP-monitors recognize masc-ato as a terminal user. There is no difference between masc-ato and regular terminal.
The user interactions are defined once to be run afterwards whenever required. With the help of an optional LOG terminal the processing may be displayed and verified.
masc-ato is the solution for an easy integration of on-line activities in job-scheduling systems. The definition of cursor-control, line-, position- and PF-key-statements allows a variety of automation of standard applications as well as user transactions. With parameters and return-codes masc-ato offers the connections to all kind of job-automation products.
The execution of long term transactions often resulting in overloaded systems is a well known problem. With masc-ato you have the ability to relocate those transactions to a time-slice when the systemload is low.
Experiences within the 24-hours operating shifts with interventions is a statement of direction to break down the complexity of the transactions handled. masc-ato opens the way to automate these interventions.
Many of these transactions are set up by masc-ato statements and managed automatically by job scheduling systems. The choice is yours, when to execute these transaction processes.
A set of structured definitions of the transaction process is the key to flexible and successful integration of your daily business activities. REXX or another programming language controls the flow of the on-line activities based on the screen interactions and the received output.
The flow of activities is achieved through the definition of dependencies based on the received screen- and/or console-output.
masc-ato supports various spool and console products in order to reply and display messages as well as starting activities.
With masc-ato , the TP-monitors guarantee full data integrity among terminal users as it does with any on-line user. Additionally, masc-ato produces a detailed LOG-report with all input and output listed during the transaction process.
masc-ato can be used with several TP monitors on different systems simultaneously and independently. Via VTAM interface, the transaction processes are submitted to the destination monitor.
masc-ato does not need any additional modules in the TP-monitor, the program storage needs are not expanded and existing transactions do not have to be changed or modified.

masc-ato is a highly efficient automation tool developed with the latest software technology available. It offers a state of the art instrument to securely integrate your automation requirements into existing processes and puts you a step ahead in achieving a fully automated DP-center.
masc-ato is available for all current operating system versions of VSE and MVS. For communications, VTAM and a TP-monitor (e.g. CICS, TSO, IMS etc.) is required.
